Develop technical designs in 3D CAD programs
Wat ga je doen als 3D Technical Designer / Draftsman?
When a project is sold, a project manager is appointed to lead this project. This person is assigned a lead engineer who is ultimately technical responsible for the product to be built. Various mechanical design engineers will work for the lead engineer. These engineers make basic designs of mainly strength-related parts. As a 3D technical draftsman, you further develop these mechanical designs. You do this by means of high-tech 3D design software from Siemens and supported by the TeamCenter PDM system.
You will work in an international team and the official job title is 'designer'.
You will definitely not sit behind your CAD station all day because you also have consultations with engineers and you collect information from suppliers about the parts to be used. In short, the role is dynamic and varied.
Growth is certainly possible, but not necessary. If you feel comfortable in this role, you can continue to do so for years to come. But if you have the ambition to grow, you can do that too. If you have trained yourself in this profession for a number of years and know all the details and pitfalls of these products, what stands in the way of growing into the role of engineer or even lead engineer?
We are mainly looking for engineers with a mechanical engineering background. Aerospace engineering or automotive engineering is also possible. Industrial design / IPO engineers should realize that you will not work on consumer products, but if you like to draw in 3D CAD programs, we like to get in touch with you.
Waar ga je werken?
Our client, active in the offshore industry, designs and builds large machines. These large machines are mainly used to install windmills at sea. Not ‘somewhat big’ but bigger than big; think higher than 100 meters and strong enough to lift more than two thousand cars at once.
Various techniques are combined in these large machines: steel construction, electrical engineering, software, mechanical engineering, drive technology, hydraulics.
